Learning Objective: Provide an EHR training experience to Patient Care Assistants that includes a real-world application of documentation that pairs with patient care.

Background & Impetus for Change: Given Parkland’s expedient and swift onboarding process for new employee orientation, Patient Care Assistants (PCAs) are often at a disadvantage when discussing or understanding Epic’s EHR. Adequate training for ancillary staff is typically overlooked, given a perceived limited role in Epic. Prior-state Epic training scenarios were minimally constructed, with little context surrounding a real-world application.
